SPECIFICATION SECTION - NEUTRON SHIELDED SWING DOOR
PART 1 – GENERAL
The work of this section consists of furnishing and installing the door and furnishing only the frame.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
Neutron shielded door and frame shall be as manufactured by Parrott Shielding 101 North 32nd Street Louisville, Kentucky 40212, Phone:(502)778-6737 Fax:(502)778-6909.
DOOR AND FRAME:
The door shall be constructed of 1/2” steel framing member around the entire perimeter of door and shall have 1/4” steel faceplates. All weld joints shall be ground smooth. The hinge faceplates of the door shall have 1/2” x size required bar stock welded to the interior of the plate diagonally, the full length of the door. The interior of the door shall have lead shielding and polyethylene, as indicated on drawings. The door and frame shall be pre-finished in shop primer. Frame shall be constructed of 1/4” steel of shape and size as detailed on architectural drawings, complete with bottom lead lined sill as shown and welded in anchors including sill anchors. The face of the hinge jamb of the frame shall be reinforced the full length with 3/4” bar reinforcing as shown. The header of the frame shall be reinforced and prepared for the all-electric operator and all necessary conduit openings and kill switch preparation.
The Hardware shall include the following items to be furnished and installed by the door manufacturer:
Furnish two (2) triple weight concealed ball-bearing pivots/hinges capable of carrying the weight to be determined per pair of pivots/hinges per door leaf. Pivot/hinge leafs shall be applied to door and frame with 1/2” allen head machine screws, diameters 1/2" and 1" determined by size of hinges.
Furnish two (2) stainless steel heavy-duty pulls #2 for each door US26D finish.
Furnish Brookfield Model NB 500 Programmable Electric Operator with power opening and power closing features (includes partial open feature). The operator shall be free-egress in case of power failure. Furnish (4) push plate stations for open, close, and partial open. Conduits and wiring shall be furnished under Division 16. The operator will be installed by the local Brookfrield Representative with coordination of the installation by Parrott Shielding.
OPTIONAL SAFETY FEATURES:
The operator can have an optional battery back-up system. Please ask for a quotation for this feature if you are interested.
KILL SWITCH (Interlock):
Furnish two (2) kill switches in hinge jamb of door frame to interrupt power to accelerator when door is not in fully closed position.
Door shall be field installed by Parrott Shielding along with all hardware. Frame to be furnished by Parrott Shielding, but installed by general works contractor. Frame to be set plumb in all directions.
SPECIFICATION SECTION - NEUTRON SHIELDED SLIDING DOOR
PART 1 - GENERAL
The work of this section consists of furnishing and installing the direct neutron shielded slider door for the linear accelerator room.
Parrott Shielding shall submit shop drawings showing shielding construction with elevations and sections of the door and door opening.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
The Neutron shielded door shall be as manufactured by Parrott Shielding 101 North 32nd Street, Louisville, KY 40212 (502) 778-6737, FAX (502) 778-6909.
Door shall be constructed of 1" steel framing member around entire perimeter of door and shall have ¼” steel face plates. All weld joints shall be ground smooth. Flat bar reinforcing of door shall be ¾” x 5” bar stock welded to the interior of plate diagonally, full length of door. The interior of door shall have lead shielding and polyethylene, as indicated on drawings. The door shall be pre-finished in shop primer.
Hardware shall include the following items to be furnished and installed by the door manufacturer:
Furnish two (2) Model CYA # 120 P trolleys with a capacity of 6 tons each (door weight approximately 19,480 lbs.), as manufactured by Coffing Hoists.
All sliding doors shall be furnished with a Model 1924 PLC High Speed, High Frequency electric movement system complete with controls, battery backup systems, switches, etc., as detailed on drawings. Supply voltage shall be 120 volt A.C., single phase, with a 24 volt control circuit. The motor shall be a 90 volt,1 HP D.C. permanent magnet type with heavy duty right angle gear head reduction, a minimum 20 AMP circuit is required.
All controls shall be NEMA 1 unless otherwise specified. ( NEMA 4 or 12 available upon specification.) The control box will be mounted separately on the wall for access from the floor. Two 6” square stainless steel PTO (Press To Open) wall switches will be furnished for door actuation. The control circuit will allow for initial or for future addition of various options*-warning bell or lights, and partial open. (Additional proximity switch and actuators are required for these options. All options can be quoted upon request).
An endless chain drive using double #50 chain running in an aluminum chain guide section with nylon chain guides will be supplied. The chain guide will be mounted with adjustable wall mounting angles. The motor and a junction box will be mounted on the aluminum chain guide. A heavy duty manual operator disconnect with door mounted drive bracket will be furnished for attachment to the door. Proximity switches for controlling the door position will be furnished and shall mount on a continuous track for infinite adjustment.
Upon power failure the door will begin to move to the full open position.
Motor control shall be accomplished using an electronic control package providing electronic coast to stop. The control circuit will allow for two-speed operation with the opening and closing speeds independently and infinitely adjustable and will have diagnostics for easy setup and servicing. The door will slow down and creep into both the open and closed positions. While in emergency mode, the door will travel at a much slower speed under battery backup.
All conduits and wiring for the movement system shall be furnished and installed by others under Division 16.
Interlock switch- The interlock switch will interrupt power to the accelerator when the door is in the open position. BEA –Iris Presence Sensor-Provides an active infrared presence as follows: Furnish two curtains of infrared and shall detect stationary humans or objects within the sensing pattern; one inside of door and one outside of door. Infrared curtains shall have angle adjustment capability, and shall be capable to reach within 2 inches (51mm) of the face of the sliding door. Sensor shall have a narrow or wide sensing pattern, determined by a user- selectable lens. Pattern size adjustments made by field-masking a lens shall not be acceptable. Sensor dimensions-10.3”(L) x 2.2” (H) x 1.43” (D) Sensor provides a 6 feet 6 inches (1.98m) wide (wide lens) pattern when mounted at 7 feet (2.3m), and a 3 feet 3 inches (1 m) wide pattern when using the narrow lens. Sensor shall have a minimum self-adaptation time of 30 seconds that enables the sensor to learn permanently changed environments.
Final connection, adjustment, calibration, and testing of all safety devices to be completed under Division 16, with supervision by Parrott Shielding.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
Door shall be field installed by Parrott Shielding, including all hardware herein specified, and the movement system.
