SPECIFICATION SECTION - NEUTRON SHIELDED DOOR

 

 

PART 1 – GENERAL

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

The work of this section consists of furnishing and installing the door and furnishing only the frame.

 

 

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

 

MANUFACTURER:

 

Neutron shielded door and frame shall be as manufactured by Parrott Shielding 101 1/2 North 32nd Street Louisville,Kentucky 40212

DOOR AND FRAME:

 

The door shall be constructed of 1/2” steel framing member around the entire perimeter of door and shall have 1/4” steel faceplates.

All weld joints shall be ground smooth.  The hinge faceplates of the door shall have 1/2” x size required bar stock welded to the interior of the plate diagonally,

the full length of the door.

 

The interior of the door shall have lead shielding and polyethylene, as indicated on drawings.

 

The door and frame shall be pre-finished in shop primer.

 

Frame shall be constructed of 1/4” steel of shape and size as detailed on architectural drawings, complete with bottom lead lined sill as shown and

welded in anchors including sill anchors.

 

The face of the hinge jamb of the frame shall be reinforced the full length with 3/4” bar reinforcing as shown.

 

The header of the frame shall be reinforced and prepared for the all-electric operator and all necessary conduit openings and kill switch preparation.

 

HARDWARE:

 

The Hardware shall include the following items to be furnished and installed by the door manufacturer:

 

Pivot/Hinge

 

Furnish two (2) triple weight concealed ball-bearing pivots/hinges capable of carrying the weight to be determined per pair of pivots/hinges per door leaf.

Pivot/hinge leaves shall be applied to door and frame with 1/2” allen head machine screws.

 

 

Pulls

 

Furnish two (2) cast bronze heavy-duty pulls #2 for each door US26D finish.

 

Electric Operator

 

Furnish all electric self-contained automatic door operator with spring-open/power closing features.  The operator shall be free-egress in case of power failure.

Furnish (2) push button stations with press-to-open, press-to-close features.  Conduits and wiring shall be furnished under Division 16.  The operator will be

installed by the local representative with coordination of the installation by Parrott Shielding.

 

Kill Switch (Interlock)

 

Furnish two (2) kill switches in hinge jamb of door frame to interrupt power to accelerator when door is not in fully closed position.

 

 

INSTALLATION:

 

Door shall be field installed by Parrott Shielding along with all hardware. Frame to be furnished by Parrott Shielding, but installed by general works contractor.

Frame to be set plumb in all directions.
